Stella Maris Hermitage, located in the northern woods of Maine, is inspired by Thoreau. We invite the broader internet community to engage in the wistful perusals of life lived deliberately. However, it is my observation that other than the unique physical circumstances of the location, the yearnings and dreams written between the lines of these reflections often resonates with others. In the words of Henry David Thoreau, Walden (1854) “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”
